That’s right, the Re-Elected version of the game includes everything from the infamous Dubstep Gun to the stories of Enter The Dominatrix and How The Saints Save Christmas. If you think you can handle 2013 animation standards (most of you probably can, it’s not that big of a deal), then Saints Row IV: Re-Elected has one final prize to offer you. Not that anyone said it would be, this was always a re-release and not a remaster after all, but still, it’s something you’ll notice a fair amount of in the cutscenes and quick-time events where your character is almost the sole focus of the camera. The refined animation we’re so used to in new games just wasn’t there in the original release and wasn’t updated for the Switch release.

There’s an awful lot of clipping, particularly when it comes to characters’ hair and outfits. No, it’s the quality of the animation that you’ll notice. It actually looks better than I expected because Switch ports often take graphical hits in the name of performance. Now don’t get me wrong, the game still looks good. Not to mention the fact that your favorite side activities, like Insurance Fraud and Mayhem, are still part of the game, albeit to provide you with a way of disrupting the simulation you are trapped in rather than as a way to earn a bit more money and respect (although they’re still good for that, too).īut despite how well the gameplay holds up against brand new releases, the same can’t always be said about some of graphics. Whether it’s through working with characters you haven’t seen since the original Saints Row game like Benjamin King, or listening to Saints Row 2’s version of Shaundi argue with present-day Shaundi, you’re bound to get a kick of nostalgia as you see the return of old favorites. But it turns out that Deep Silver knew what they were doing back then because their work still holds up now It’s been a little while since I last played a Saints Row game, In fact, the last time I think I played one was the original release of Saints Row IV back in 2013, which is a lot longer ago than I thought it was.
